Flat Pack Sliding Wardrobe Doors- Measuring Guide

Measuring your opening is an important step when ordering Flat Pack Sliding Wardrobe Doors. Because every wardrobe opening is different, providing accurate measurements ensures your doors and tracks are manufactured to suit your space perfectly. Whether you are replacing existing wardrobe doors, renovating a bedroom or installing a new built-in wardrobe, custom-made Flat Pack Sliding Wardrobe Doors are designed around your specific opening dimensions.

At Robes Delivered, all Flat Pack Sliding Wardrobe Doors are made to measure, allowing you to achieve a professional built-in appearance without the limitations of standard-sized products. Once your measurements are submitted, we manufacture your chosen door style and track system to suit your opening, helping create a stylish, practical and space-saving wardrobe solution for your home.

Step 1: Level up – floor and ceiling

Use a spirit level to work out how level both the ceiling and floor are, as you’ll need to install your sliding doors on a flat, level surface so they don’t roll open! Check the ceiling and floor, roughly in the centre of where the wardrobe will be and roughly at the depth you’d like the doors to be at.

Step 2: Measuring up – floor to ceiling

The track system allows for up to 10-15mm variance in height. Measure in at least three places (centre and both sides) and always give us the smallest dimension.

If the difference between the largest and smallest dimension is greater than 15mm, you’ll need to create a top frame for your ceiling to level it out.

The maximum standard opening height for our sliding door systems is 2460mm. If your space is taller than this, we can either supply oversized doors up to a maximum height of 2760mm, supply a white melamine bulkhead panel or you may choose to build a gyprock bulkhead frame for the top to fill the gap. Don’t worry, the top tracks of our sliding doors are not load bearing – they are there for guidance.

Step 3: Level up – walls

Check the walls with a spirit level. If they curve or are significantly not level, you may need to pack the wall jambs we supply to ensure that the sliding doors close against a level surface on the left and right side of the opening.

Step 4: Measuring up – Wall to Wall

Measure the width of your space in two places (top and bottom) making sure to measure above any skirting board and below any coving. Both top and bottom track will be supplied slightly over-length to allow you to trim them to exact requirements.

Please note that if you have a skirting board, you may will need to remove a section to fit the wall tracks in, otherwise the doors will only roll up to the skirting board and will have a gap around them. As above, please measure wall to wall above the skirting board so we have the full width of the gap. Please provide the smaller of the two measurements as your width for your quote.
